Marshall D. Teach as a black Leader

The ST-27 Leader imposes a permanent restriction: your own On Play effects are cancelled. In exchange, by discarding a card from your hand, you cancel your opponent's until the end of their next turn.

It is a Leader of refusal. On Play effects, which fire when a Character enters the field, are one of the format's main engines, and switching them off strips many decks of half their plan.

The deck is accordingly built from cards that do not depend on those effects. Among the new cards, Kuzan and Marshall D. Teach arrive as Super Rares, alongside Avalo Pizarro, Catarina Devon and Sanjuan Wolf.

How it plays

ST-27 is a black disruption deck. It does not win by going faster, it wins by stopping the opponent from executing: black cuts costs to remove Characters, and the Leader cuts the effects that made them worth playing.

Played well, it turns your opponent's best cards into ordinary Characters. Played badly, it takes on its own restriction without cashing in the upside.

Who it is for

ST-27 suits a player who enjoys getting in the way rather than racing ahead. It is the deck in the wave that best teaches you to read an opponent's plan, since its whole value depends on when the cancel is fired.

Established players pick it up for the new Blackbeard Pirates cards, in particular the Kuzan Super Rare.

Beginners Deck Party

The Beginners Deck Party accompanied the release at local game stores. Entry meant bringing one of the six ST-23 to ST-28 decks unmodified, and two six-version card tiers were on offer.

Tournament legality

ST-27 cards are legal in official tournaments seven days after the release date in your region, and playable from the pre-release date at participating local game stores.

Collecting, rarity and market

Starter deck cards carry their deck's code (ST27-001, ST27-003 and so on) and are partly reprints. The most followed here are the Kuzan and Marshall D. Teach Super Rares.

Every ST-27 card has its average price on its own page. Those figures follow the market and react mainly to rarity, condition and demand.

Other printings

ST-27 is also printed in French and Japanese. The French edition released on 20 June 2025.
