Yamato One Piece cards

Yamato is the child of Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, and enters the story during the Wano Country arc, in the middle of the raid on Onigashima. Raised in confinement on the island, Yamato was shaped by the public execution of Kozuki Oden and claims Oden's legacy outright, taking on the name and the look. That rejection of Kaido's inheritance puts Yamato on the side of the alliance fighting the Beasts Pirates, after a first meeting with Luffy built on mistaken identity. Official translations and supporting material vary between masculine and feminine wording for the character.

For players, Yamato is unusual in having three separate Leaders. ST09-001 is the mono-yellow Leader heading the ST-09 starter deck and sits in Block 1, so it is no longer Standard legal. OP06-022 is the Green/Yellow Leader from OP-06, built around Double Attack and pressure once the opponent's Life is low; it is Block 2, Standard legal, and it is the printing that actually shows up in tournament results, with Wano Country characters and the ST-28 support package feeding it. OP16-079 is the newest, a Black Leader from OP-16 in Block 5, built around replaying {Land of Wano} Characters out of the trash and pushing them through immediately. As a Character, Yamato spans OP-01 through OP-16, plus EB-01, EB-02, EB-03, PRB-01, PRB-02 and promos.

Among Yamato One Piece cards, the alternate treatments separate sharply in value. The EB-02 reprint of OP06-022 sits far above everything else in the character's pool. Below it, the OP16-079 parallel Leader, the P-008 Championship Set promo and the OP06-022 alternate art form a second tier. The EB02-006 alternate art, then OP13-054 and EB03-057, follow. Illustrated DON!! cards from the premium boosters are their own collector segment. Base printings of both playable Leaders stay cheap, which keeps the deck itself easy to assemble.
